Harvey's Mill is a 17th century post windmill beautifully converted into a charming holiday cottage sleeping 2 set in the heart of the Suffolk Heritage Coast region.
The mill has many quirky original features, a spacious bedroom up the spiral stairs and the large bathroom has a free standing double ended bath.
Convenient for Minsmere RSPB reserve and the popular coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Snape Maltings concert hall is under 15mins drive.
A quiet romantic retreat set in open countryside with panoramic views and a private enclosed garden, supervised pets are welcome.
Harvey’s Mill has a large open plan living area displaying the fabulous heritage of this historic grain store of a 17th century post windmill. The original brick supports for the smock of the windmill are exposed and show the workmanship of the curved brickwork.
The cosy sitting area has Chesterfield sofa and armchair and an LED TV with DVD player and a separate radio.
It looks out over the countryside and gardens in two directions.
The dining area has a formal dining table for two people to enjoy every day, or for a romantic meal.
The kitchen has a solid oak worktop and handmade bespoke cupboards. There is a fridge with freezer compartment built in, an oven, electric hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and basic cooking ingredients all provided.
There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes etc. Many full Christmas roasts have been enjoyed in past years.
The bedroom is accessed up the spiral stairs on the mezzanine floor above the main space. It has a double bed, radio/CD player and a TV.
There is a reading area and various antique chairs from which the panoramic views can be enjoyed through the double aspect windows. A DAB clock radio alarm is also provided in case you oversleep in this very quiet location.
The bathroom is downstairs off the entrance hall, it is very spacious and contains a freestanding bath, basin and loo. Various cosmetics are provided in the cabinet for guests use free of charge. There is a hairdryer available for guest use.
The entrance hall has a large cupboard with hanging space and hooks for coats. There is a large chest of drawers with puzzles, information leaflets and landranger maps provided for guests use. An iron and ironing board are available in the cupboard for guest use.
The private garden is completely enclosed for supervised, well behaved dogs and has a dining set for 4 people with very pretty cottage borders planted with a variety of attractive flowering shrubs. The garden is not guaranteed dog proof and is not to be used for unsupervised dogs under any circumstances.
For insurance reasons due to thatched buildings in the vicinity no BBQs are permitted.
Parking is next to the Mill there’s plenty of room to turn around and cars are over 100m off the public road.
I have a flock of Pekin Chickens in my garden, often with young chicks in the summer. You will benefit from free eggs when they are laying. I ask that dogs are kept away from the birds at all times for obvious reasons.
Harvey’s Mill guests are provided with a free welcome pack that comprises wine, homemade jam, homemade bread, homemade biscuits, homemade chocolate biscuit cake, eggs from my hens when laying, fresh fruit from my trees when in season, orange juice, milk, real ground coffee and fresh flowers. Vegan options available please ask. Allergen lists provided with booking confirmation emails and in cottage for your information.
There is a hairdryer provided in the bathroom for guest use.
All bed linen and towels are provided included in the price, one bath towel, one hand towel and one face cloth per person and a bath mat and kitchen tea towels. Extra towels beyond this can be provided at a small extra charge.
We have luxury hotel style white bed linen and towels so we ask that those fond of fake tanning products do not apply it while in the cottage or shortly before arrival as it has proved to be practically impossible to remove from towels and bedding and can cause hundreds of pounds worth of damage. We also ask that the white linen is not taken outside the cottage or used on pets.
Severe damage or missing linen will be charged back to guests at the cost of new replacement items from Beaumont Brown.
